* Hillary Clinton supports "comprehensive immigration reform", which is a massive amnesty that will vastly increase legal immigration and continue the process of illegal immigration to the U.S.
* She's also a co-sponsor of the DREAM Act, an anti-American bill that will take discounted college educations away from U.S. citizens and give them to citizens of other countries who are here illegally.
* She's also a co-sponsor of the AgJOBS amnesty. Unlike its larger "comprehensive" cousin, that would only deal with farmworkers (or those who claimed to have been farmworkers).
* On the plus side, she has supported increased border security with Canada.
* On the plus side - with the possibility of hidden motives - she supports increased federal reimbursements to the states for the costs of illegal immigration. Part of that support is for the SCAAP program, which refunds states for the costs of incarcerating illegal aliens. Bush has consistently underfunded that program.
She gets a "D" grade from ABI for her recent votes, a "D-" for her career votes.

On April 6, 2006 she spoke to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce:
...And finally we need a path to earned legal status. I think that is absolutely essential. You know, there is no doubt that an earned path is exactly what we should be doing because that will bring people out of the shadows and if there are those who should be deported because of their criminal record or their misbehavior they should be deported. But for the vast majority of people who are here, they are working hard, they are paying taxes, and they are respecting the law. And we need to give them an earned path to legalization.
"Path to earned legal status" is a euphemism for a massive amnesty. By crossing illegally or by intentionally overstaying their visas they've indicated a lack of respect for our laws and our sovereignty. And, many illegal aliens that Clinton would consider to be "respecting the law" may be involved in such crimes as identity theft.
We need comprehensive reform that does include border security but not criminalizing the church and charities and individuals who stand there with a helping hand for those who are in need.
That's a scare tactic that even Cardinal Roger Mahony admitted he'd exaggerated about. The bill in question (HR4437) was not intended to apply to soup kitchens and the like, but that didn't stop corrupt forces from claiming that it would apply.
And, on September 28, 2005, Clinton (together with Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Maria Cantwell, Barack Obama, Russ Feingold, Daniel Akaka, Frank Lautenberg, Joe Lieberman, Carl Levin, John Kerry, Patrick Leahy, Chris Dodd, and Jon Corzine) sent a letter to Michael Chertoff of the DHS urging him not to deport illegal aliens who'd sought help after Hurricane Katrina. While we should provide emergency care in such instances, we also should reserve the right to deport illegal aliens, especially in that case where they were taking jobs from American hurricane victims.
